RULES AND REGULATIONS
SUMMER 2026

General Club Policies

  1. Members must check in upon arrival and have their Key Card ready (see Member Key Card policy).
  2. If requested by staff or a club member, individuals must provide their name for verification against the membership roster.
  3. Misuse of club facilities may result in loss of privileges.
  4. All use of club facilities is at the individual’s own risk. Westridge Swim Club, Inc., its members, and Board of Directors assume no responsibility for injury or damage.
  5. Outside food and beverages are permitted but must be in plastic containers or cans — no glass.  No alcoholic beverages unless approved by the Board.
  6. All trash must be disposed of in designated receptacles.
  7. Smoking, vaping, and nicotine product use are restricted to the parking lot only.
  8. Parking lot gates close and lock at 9:00 PM nightly (unless extended for special events). Vehicles left inside will remain until morning.
  9. Members must park in designated areas only.
  10. Any member found “breaking and entering” may be prosecuted under North Carolina law. The Board reserves the right to impose penalties, including termination of membership without refund.

Lifeguard & Pool Manager Authority

  1. Members are expected to report rule violations to the Pool Manager on duty.                                                                                                                                                                            
  2. Lifeguards are empowered to make immediate safety corrections. Repeat or serious violations must be reported to the Pool Manager.
  3. Pool Managers are authorized to enforce all rules and impose penalties as needed. Serious or repeated violations will be escalated to the Board.
  4. In the event of thunder or lightning, staff will clear the pool and deck. The pool will reopen no sooner than 30 minutes after the last thunderclap. Continued storms may result in pool closure until the next day.
  5. During break times, children under 12 months may enter the pool only if held by a parent/guardian (age 16+) or in a flotation device with direct adult supervision. This must occur in water 5 feet deep or less. One child per adult.

Member Key Card Policy

  1. Members must use the Key Card system to enter the pool.
  2. Staff will verify eligibility before entry. If no manager is present, members must wait for authorization.
  3. Card tags are assigned to individual members and may not be shared.
  4. Unauthorized use of a Card tag will result in removal from the pool for the day. Repeat violations will be reported to the Board.
  5. The first RFID key tag is free. Replacement tags cost $2.00 each.

Swimming Attire Policy

  1. Revealing swimwear (e.g., thong, cheeky, Brazil/French-cut styles) and street clothes are prohibited.
  2. Swimwear should not be worn during exercise immediately before pool use.
  3. Non-toilet-trained children must wear two layers: a snug swim diaper and a bathing suit. Swim diapers are available for sale at the Sugar Shack.

Pool Safety Guidelines

  1. Unsupervised Pool Use
  • Minimum age for unsupervised pool access is 11. The child must have passed the Swim Test.
  • Children under the age of 14 may not be responsible for supervising any other individual at the pool. Babysitters must be at least 14 years old.
  • Swim Test = swimming one full length of the pool without stopping or touching the bottom of the pool, verified by staff.
  • Upon passing, the child’s name and the date are logged in Pool Pass.  If a guest, their info is written on their sheet in the guest notebook.  
  • Diving Board & Deep End Rules
  • Children 15 and under must pass the Swim Test to enter the deep end.
  • Westridge Swim Club provides 1-meter and 3-meter diving boards for member enjoyment. For safety and equipment integrity, each board has a maximum weight limit of 250 pounds.  Members and guests must adhere to posted weight limits.
  • One person on the diving board or ladder at a time.
  • No double bouncing or side dives.
  • Divers must swim directly to the closest ladder after surfacing.  
  • No swimming under the boards.
  • Wait until the previous diver reaches the ladder before diving/jumping.
  • No general swimming in the diving area unless boards are closed.
  • Backward flips, gainers, and extended/shallow dives are prohibited. Horseplay, running, or unsafe diving practices are strictly prohibited.
  • Splashing lifeguards is strictly prohibited.
  • Violation of these guidelines may result in restricted access or disciplinary action.
  1. Water Slide Rules
  • Slide feet-first only.
  • No head-first sliding, stopping, turning, kneeling, or rotating.
  • Exit the slide area immediately after entry.
  • No standing or playing at slide exits.
  1. Prohibited Conduct & Items
  • Rough play (wrestling, dunking, playing “chicken”, etc.)
  • Throwing hard objects (e.g., tennis balls)
    • Permitted equipment:   Only balls specifically designed for aquatic play (neoprene, waterproof rubber, or light vinyl) are permitted in the pool area.
    •  Prohibited items:   For safety and hygiene, do not bring outside sports and balls – such as tennis balls, footballs, racquetballs, volleyballs or basketballs – inside the pool deck area.
    •  Hard ball restriction:   Hard or heavy balls that could cause impact injuries or damage pool tile are strictly prohibited.
  • Large floats are prohibited unless approved by management
  • Running, bicycling, or skating
  • Alcoholic beverages (unless approved by the Board)
  • Use of pool when lifeguards are not on duty (unless break time during open hours and age 16+)
  • Tampering with skimmer covers or baskets
  • Unauthorized access to pump houses or chemical storage
  • Large floats are prohibited unless approved by management
  • Glass containers of any kind.

Lifeguards

  1. Lifeguard stands are reserved exclusively for lifeguards on duty.
  2. To ensure lifeguards can maintain full attention on pool safety, members should avoid unnecessary conversation while lifeguards are actively monitoring the pool.
  3. Members are asked not to linger near lifeguards on duty to prevent distractions.

Accessibility & Pool Hours

  1. Individuals with physical or mental disabilities that may affect swimming ability are encouraged to notify the Pool Manager upon arrival so that appropriate safety measures can be taken.
  2. Pool hours may be temporarily adjusted at the discretion of the Pool Manager / Board based on operational needs (including but not limited to accidents, mechanical issues, etc.) and weather.  

Swim Team Practice

  1. The wading/baby pool remains open during swim team practices for children age 5 and under, provided they are supervised by an adult member, parent, or guardian.
  2. During swim team practice, team members have exclusive use of the pool, except for the two-foot section between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Children under age 10 may use this area with adult supervision.
  3. During swim meets, the entire pool — including the wading/baby pool — is closed to non-participants.

Pool Health & Hygiene

  1. Members are encouraged to shower before entering the pool, especially after sports or outdoor activities.
  2. Parents are asked to ensure children use restroom facilities before swimming.
  3. Individuals with communicable diseases, open sores, skin eruptions, or bandages are not permitted in the pool.
  4. Eating and drinking are prohibited in the pool.
  5. If a child has an accident in the pool, notify the Pool Manager immediately.  The pool may be required to close for a period of time (an hour, until the end of the day or up to 24 hours) depending on the type of accident.

Wading/Baby Pool

  1. The wading/baby pool is designated for children age 5 and under.
  2. Children must be supervised by an adult member, parent, or guardian at all times.
  3. Non-toilet-trained children must wear two layers: a snug-fitting swim diaper and a bathing suit. Children not properly attired will not be allowed in either pool.

Tennis & Basketball Courts

  1. Bicycles, motorbikes, skateboards, scooters, and automobiles are prohibited on the courts to prevent surface damage.
  2. Only tennis, basketball, pickleball, and wall ball (in the backboard area) are permitted on court surfaces.

 

Guest Policy

  1. All guests must register at the front desk upon entry.
  2. Notes or phone calls from members will not be accepted for guest registration. Guests must arrive with a member and leave when the member leaves.
  3. Guests are limited to five (5) visits per season. 

 

  1. Guests must be accompanied by a member age 11 or older. The member is responsible for the guest’s behavior and must remain on-site.
  2. Guest Passes
    1. Each family membership includes 10 complimentary guest passes which are preloaded into the family’s Pool Pass account.  Each time a guest attends with the family, the Pool Pass guest pass will subtract until all 10 are exhausted.  
    2. Each guest may visit up to five (5) times per season
    3. Events (Parties, Teen Night, Family Day) don’t count toward the 5 visits 
    4. Passes can be used in any combination (e.g., 10 guests once, 2 guests five times)
    5. Guests are no longer eligible after completing 5 visits
    6. Guest residing outside a 50-mile radius of Rocky Mount are admitted free of charge
  3. Guests under age 15 must pass a swim test administered by a lifeguard 
  4. Teen Nights (TBA): Members (rising 6th graders 🡪 rising HS seniors) may invite non-member guests between 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM. All participants will pay $5 to attend (members and non-members).
    1. All guests must follow Westridge Swim Club rules.
    2. The Club reserves the right to limit the number of swimmers in the pool or pool area.
  5. Family Day: Held the first Monday of each open month. Adult members (18+) may bring one non-member family without a guest fee. Guest limits do not apply.

  6. Non-member season passes for grandchildren of members are available for $125 per child. 
    1. “Grandchildren” refers to biological or legally adopted children of a member’s son or daughter.
    2. Passes are available for grandchildren age 18 and under.
    3. A Non-Member Grandchild Application must be completed and filed before admission.
    4. All guest rules apply.

Birthday Celebrations & Parties

  1. Parties must be booked with the Pool Manager at least one week in advance and recorded in the Birthday Party Logbook.
  2. When booking, please provide: 
    1. Date
    2. Time
    3. Responsible Person (Club member age 18+) who will be present for the entire event
    4. Number of anticipated guests
  3. There will be a $5 guest fee for all non-member swimming attendees.
  4. Food and drinks must remain outside the pool. Decorations and gifts should be kept near the shelter area/party table.
  5. The Responsible Person is expected to completely clean up and clear out of the party area at the end of the scheduled party time.  Failure to do so may result in a $75 cleanup fee.
  6. For parties with more than 10 guests, the party will be asked to move to the tables outside the shelter or the gazebo. This will aid in keeping the shelter area clear and allow the manager to have a clear view of the pool and all swimmers.
  7. In case of inclement weather or pool closure, the Pool Manager will contact the Responsible Person to reschedule.

 

Concessions

  1. Concessions are provided for member and guest convenience.
  2. Prices may vary based on supply costs.
  3. Only employees, Board Members, and authorized personnel may enter the concession area.

 

Rule Changes

  1. Suggestions for improving club operations or safety should be submitted to the Club’s email address at westridgeswimclub@gmail.com
  2. The President will forward recommendations to the Rules Committee for review.
  3. The Rules Committee will present proposed changes to the Board of Directors for approval.
