WESTRIDGE SWIM CLUB
RULES AND REGULATIONS
SUMMER 2021

FOR ALL ACTIVITIES

  1. Members are asked to have Key Fob (Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) ready and must check in upon arrival. 
  2. If requested by pool staff or a club member, an individual must give his or her name, which will be checked against a master membership list.
  3. Misuse of club facilities may result in loss of privileges.
  4. All persons using the club facilities do so at their own risk. The Westridge Swim Club, Inc., its Members and/or Board of Directors, assume no responsibility for injury or damage resulting from such use.
  5. Glass and other breakable objects are not permitted on the premises.
  6. All trash must be placed in proper receptacles.
  7. All smoking, vaping, electronic cigarettes or use of any nicotine product must be confined to the parking lot of Westridge Swim Club property.
  8. The parking lot gates will be closed and locked at 9:00 p.m. each evening (unless hours are extended by a special event). Cars left unattended at that time will be unable to be moved until the following morning.
  9. Members are asked to park in designated areas only. Parking on the grass adjacent to the pool is prohibited (except for overflow parking).
  10. Any member “Breaking or Entering” can be prosecuted under the laws of the State of North Carolina. The Board has full discretion in determining local penalties to impose including membership termination without a refund of paid dues.

AUTHORITY OF LIFEGUARDS/POOL MANAGER

It is the responsibility of every member to report violations of the Rules & Regulations to the Pool Manager on Duty.

The Lifeguard is charged with making immediate corrections of pool members and guests, as it relates to safety. Should a Lifeguard have an issue that is of greater gravity than an immediate correction, or a repeat offender, it is their obligation to report these items to the Pool Manager for further action(s).

The Pool Managers have the authority and responsibility to enforce all Rules & Regulations and are empowered to impose on-the-spot penalties that may be necessary. Serious and/or repeated violations will be reported to the Board of Directors for additional action, as deemed necessary.

In the case of thunder or lightening, the manager and staff have the authority to clear the pool and/or deck. The pool will reopen no less than 20 minutes after the last thunderclap. Should the condition continue, the manager may close the pool until the next morning.

RADIO-FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION (RFID)

  1. Members must use the Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) check in system to enter the pool. 
  2. A manager/staff person will confirm eligibility before being allowed to enter the pool. If the manager is not present at the check in desk, the member must wait until authorized to enter.
  3. RFID tags are specific for each member listed on the membership roster and may not be used by any person other the assigned individual.  
  4. Members allowing non-members to use a RFID keg tag for entrance into Westridge Swim Club, Inc. will result in the member and non-member being asked to leave for the day. Repeated violations will be reported to the Board of Directors for further action.
  5. The initial RFID key tag will be issued without cost to the members.  Individual cost will be $1.00 per lost RFID key.  

SWIMMING ATTIRE POLICY

  1. “Street clothes,” Brazil/French-cut, thong style, cheeky and/or revealing swim wear are not allowed. 
  2. Swim attire should not be worn for exercising immediately prior to pool use for sanitary reasons.
  3. All non-toilet trained childrenmust wear two layers. A snug fitting swim diaper and bathing suit are required. Children not properly attired will not be allowed to enter the baby or main pool.

 

POOL SAFETY

  1. Pool usage without an adult:
    1. The minimum age to be admitted to the pool without adult supervision at any time is 11 years old.
    2. Swim Test rules apply (see Pool Safety 1c and 2a).
    3. A Swim Test consists of the proven ability to swim one length of the pool, nonstop. This shall be verified by a Lifeguard or Pool Manager. Upon successful completion, a Permission Agreement (Form number RR1) shall be signed by a parent, the child, and a Pool Manager. This agreement states that they are authorized to attend the pool without an adult. The Permission Agreement will be kept on file at the Pool Manager’s desk for the duration of the swim season as proof of validation.
  2. Diving Board Rules/Deep End Rues:
    1. For their safety, children 15 and under must pass the Swim Test before being authorized to enter the deep end of the pool (reference above: Pool Safety, Item 1c).
    2. Only one person is allowed on the diving apparatus (including ladder) at a time.
    3. Divers may not spring more than once on the board.
    4. Divers must dive straight from the front end of the board. No jumping from the side or towards the side of the deck.
    5. Upon surfacing, immediately swim to the nearest ladder. Do not swim under the boards at ANY time.
    6. Divers must be able to swim to the ladder unassisted. See POOL Safety 1(b & C).
    7. A diver must wait until the preceding diver has reached the ladder before they can dive from board.
    8. No general swimming is permitted in the diving area, unless, the diving boards are closed by staff/guards.
    9. Backwards flips/dives are prohibited.
    10. Gainers are prohibited. A gainer is defined as a dive in which the diver leaves the board facing forward and completes a full backward somersault to enter the water feet first with the back to the diving board.
    11. Extended dives, or dives for distance from the dive boards toward shallow water are prohibited.
  3. Water Slide Rules:
    1. Slide feet first only.
    2. Sliding headfirst is prohibited.
    3. No stopping, turning, kneeling, or rotating on the slide.
    4. Move away from the slide area immediately after entering the pool.
    5. Swimmers are not allowed to standing/play at slide exits.
  4. The following are prohibited in the pool area.
    1. Rough and boisterous conduct (including, but not limited to wrestling, pushing, dunking, imitating a drowning person, etc.).
    2. Throwing tennis balls (or other hard objects).
    3. Running.
    4. Bicycling or skating.
    5. Alcoholic beverages (except as approved/sponsored by Board of Directors).
    6. No person may use the pool unless it is officially open, and the lifeguards are on duty.
    7. Unless authorized to do so by a manager, no person shall remove the skimmer covers or skimmer baskets.
    8. For the safety of its members, unauthorized persons are prohibited from entering the pump houses/chemical storage room.
  5. Lifeguards
    1. Lifeguard stands are to be used exclusively by the Lifeguard.
    2. To ensure the ability of the Lifeguard to be able to protect the members in the pool, members are not to have any unnecessary conversation with the Lifeguard on duty.
    3. Members shall not hang around the Lifeguard on duty, as to prevent distractions.
  6. Any person with physical or mental disabilities, which might impair swimming ability, are requested to notify the Manager on Duty upon arrival. This is to ensure Westridge Swim Club gives every effort to ensure their safety.
  7. Pool hours may be adjusted by the Pool Manager on a temporary basis, as necessity arises.

SWIM TEAM PRACTICE

  1. The wading/baby pool will be open for children who are five and under during all swim team practices if there is proper supervision by an adult member, parent, or guardian.
  2. During swim team practice, swim team members have exclusive use of the pool except for the two-foot section during the 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. hour. Children below the age of ten supervised by an adult member, parent or guardian will be allowed use of this section.
  3. During swim meets the pool, including the wading/baby pool, is closed.

 

POOL HEALTH

  1. A shower is required before entering the pool if the individual has been playing sports or dirty from any other activities, as to keep the pool clean for all members.
  2. It is requested that all children use the toilet facilities before entering the pool. It is the responsibility of all parents to teach their children bathroom manners and to make them aware of the facilities available at the pool.
  3. Persons with communicable diseases, skin eruptions, open sores, bandages, etc., are not permitted to use the pool.
  4. No eating or drinking is allowed in the pool.

WADING/BABY POOL

  1. The wading/baby pool is for children 5 years of age or under.
  2. Children must be supervised by an adult member, parent, or guardian.
  3. All non-toilet trained children must wear two layers. A snug fitting swim diaper and bathing suit are required. Children not properly attired will not be allowed to enter the baby or main pool.

TENNIS AND BASKETBALL COURTS

  1. No bicycles, motorbikes, skateboards, motor scooters, automobiles, etc., will be permitted on the courts, as they damage the surface.
  2. Reservations
    1. Certain hours may be reserved for instruction or private games, in 1.5-hour timeslots (Back-to-back reservations will not be allowed, as to allow everyone time to play.).
    2. Tennis courts may be reserved up to 24 hours in advance by getting your name on the Reservation List that will be maintained by the Pool Manager (in person or by phone).
    3. Each member is expected to cancel a reservation when it will not be used (by telephone or in person).
    4. Reservations will automatically become void in the event of a no-show at 10 minutes after the reservation period.
  3. Abuse of the reservation system or tennis/basketball courts may result in loss of privileges.
  4. When no reservations are in effect and there are members waiting to play, time is limited to 1.5 hours for players.
  5. No activities other than tennis, basketball, or wall ball (in the backboard area) are allowed on these surfaces.


GUEST POLICY

  1. All guests must register at the front desk upon entry.
  2. Notes and/or phone calls from members will not be allowed as a method of registering guests. Those trying to enter without a member will not be permitted to register and will be asked to leave.
  3. Guests are limited to five (5) visits per season.
  4. Guests must be accompanied by a member of Westridge Swim Club that is 11 years of age or older. The club member that signs the guest in is responsible for the actions of the guest. When the member leaves, the guest must also leave. A Westridge Swim Club, Inc. provided Guest Waiver and Release of Liability (Form number RR2) must be signed by the Parent/Legal Guardian of the guest (this waiver applies to guests under the age of 18-years of age) prior to be admitted into the pool.
  5. Guests living outside a fifty (50) mile radius of Rocky Mount will be admitted without a guest fee. All other guests will be charged $5.00 per day. The guest fee must be paid at the pool entrance. The guest limit policy does not apply to guests living outside a fifty (50) mile radius of Rocky Mount.
  6. All guests under the age of fifteen will be administered a swimming test by a lifeguard to determine their ability to swim (See Pool Safety 1c and 2a). Guests not passing the swim test will be issued a wrist band which prevents swimming in water over their head.
  7. Teen Nights are TBA. On these dates, between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and closing, teens (between the ages of 13 and18) may invite non-member guests without paying a guest fee. The guest limit policy does not apply.
    1. Guests are expected to abide by all rules and regulations of Westridge Swim Club, Inc.
    2. Westridge Swim Club, Inc. reserves the right to limit the number of swimmers in the pool and/or the pool area.
  8. Monday is Family Day. An adult family member 18-years of age or older may bring one non-member family with no guest fee charge. The guest limit policy does not apply.
    1. Guests are expected to abide by all rules and regulations of Westridge Swim Club, Inc.
    2. Westridge Swim Club, Inc. reserves the right to limit the number of swimmers in the pool and/or the pool area.
  9. Non-Member season passes for grandchildren of members can be purchased through         the manager for $125.00 per grandchild.
    1. For the purpose of this rule, grandchildren are defined as the biological or legally adopted child members’ son or daughter.
    2. The season pass is available for grandchildren ages 15 and under.
    3. A Non-Member grandchild Application (form number RR3) must be completed by the parent/legal guardian and grandparent and on file at Westridge Swim Club, Inc. before being admitted.
    4. All guest rules and regulation apply.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS/PARTIES

  1. To ensure availability, birthday celebration/parties should be booked with the Pool Manager at least one week prior to party date. These reservations will be held in the “Birthday Party Logbook”.
  2. When calling to book a party, please have the following information available.
    1. Date.
    2. Time.
    3. Responsible Person’s name – defined as Westridge Swim Club Member (18 years old or older) that will be responsible and present the whole time during the party.
    4. Number of anticipated guests.
  3. There will be a $5 guest fee per person attending the party.
  4. In accordance with standard pool rules, all food and drinks must be kept out of the pool. The party celebration items (decorations, gifts, etc.) should be contained under/near the shelter area.
  5. Cleaning up before pool closing is the responsibility of the Responsible Person. Should clean up not be handled to the expectations of the Pool Manager before pool closing, a $75 clean up fee will be imposed.
  6. In case of inclement weather, or any other reason that necessitates closing the pool, the Pool Manager will contact the Responsible Person listed in the Birthday Party Logbook to relay the closing and attempt to reschedule.

CONCESSIONS

  1. Concessions are provided for the convenience to its members and guests.
  2. Concession prices are subjected to change based on cost.
  3. Only employees, Board Members and authorized personnel are allowed in the concession area.

RULE CHANGES

  1. Suggestions for improving the operation and safety of the Westridge Swim Club, Inc. should be submitted to the President in writing. The President will review the changes and forward a recommendation to the Rules Committee for consideration.
  2. The Rules Committee will recommend any change in pool rules to the Board of Directors for adoption and approval.
